This is a picture of how the aquarium looks at the moment.
I have cleaned the gravel by siphoning out bit by bit cleaning it and replace it. unfortunatly some of the fish did not like it, 11 of my Threadfin Rainbowfish past away and also 4 of my cardinal tetras, so this is not a recomended method.
This 180 degree panorama is made from pictures taken from the Kowloon public pier between HK cultural center and Star ferry pier in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Yesterday when i went to the zoo store i saw a fish which i have been interested a long time, ever since i first saw some pictures of it, but i have never seen it in a store before, I had to have some….
The fish is Threadfin Rainbowfish (Iriatherina werneri).
This site was started as a “simple” aquarium design program on APC, but now it is a full site of usefull information and tools.
One year without any updates, well, it has been a very hectic period with a lot of long far distance trips.
I will try to keep this site more updated from now on.
I will also add some pictures from the trips I have made and that i think would fit here and of course some aquarium updates.
This site is now running on a new server still with OpenSuse (newer version though) and still with menalto gallery2 as the gallery function, but with Word Press instead of Plone for the blog.
Recently I discovered that the light in the aquarium was very weak, the reason was that two of the tubes was not running at all.
I started to disassemble the fixture to find the problem and i actually found the problem, it was a bad solder inside the electronic ballast, I am quite happy i found it as it saves me a lot of money.
I think the problem has been there for a while, i have a bit of a problem with staghorn algae and i think this is because of the change intensity as this should be the only change in the aquarium.
I recently bought a 15 mm full frame fisheye and tried to take a picture of the aquarium with it, I thing the picture turned out quite fun when I debaralized it.
The Aquarium is only light by two IKEA LED spotlights, which i am going to use as moonlight simulation.
The latest few days my aquarium has been decorated with a flower from the lotus, this picture was taken while it still were a bud.
The flower seems to always blossom at night, I wounder if it is like that in nature as well, it seems strange but it has alwas been at night in my aquarium.
